We Install Premium Replacement Windows in Mississauga

When it comes to the materials used, energy efficiency, and additional features, Magic manufactures, sells and installs some of the best replacement windows in Mississauga and the GTA. Here’s why:

1. The Materials Used

Hybrid Fusion Frames: Combining Vinyl, Aluminium, and Galvanized Steel

While they are popular in the industry for their efficiency and their lower upfront cost, vinyl PVC frames lack strength, rigidity and durability. They are highly susceptible to wear and tear as well as expansion and contraction in fluctuating climates.

Structural flaws aside, however, vinyl PVC is a highly efficient material with low thermal conductivity (it can reduce heat transfer). With that in mind, we sought to create better frames by leveraging our experience as a manufacturer of aluminum frames. While aluminum is an incredibly strong, durable material, its high thermal conductivity makes it quite inefficient.

In combining aluminum and vinyl PVC — along with the added strength of galvanized steel — we sought to make a frame that’s both extremely strong and highly efficient. Our Hybrid Fusion Frames come standard with a slim, stylish profile that places visual emphasis on the window’s glass and the outdoors beyond. The ultra-thin profile of our frames is a full three inches thinner than many of our competitors.

Custom-Formulated Glass

Whereas many window companies outsource their glass production, our engineers made the critical decision to bring glass production in-house. By doing so, we are able to incorporate the best-performing energy-efficient technology the industry has to offer. This includes high-performance warm-edge spacers, low-E coatings, gas fills and more. So if you’re looking to invest in window glass replacement in Mississauga, reach out today!

Highly-Rated & Secure Locking Systems

In addition to the strength and durability of our frames, our window and door products come with locking systems that homeowners feel comfortable with year after year.

Multi-Point Window Locks: This secure locking system holds the window in place in two or more places simultaneously. These locks grab the sash and push it firmly up against the frame.

Window Cam Locks: A cam locking mechanism consists of both a base and a cam. The cam sweeps or rotates on the base before latching onto the sash, holding it locked in place against the frame. We fashion both our cam and multipoint locking systems from stainless steel to ensure security and peace of mind.

Our products, such as the Magic™ Window Wall, have a grade-40 security rating, which is the highest attainable security rating for a product in its class.

2. Energy Efficiency

All of our window and door units meet the rigorous energy efficiency standards of the National Fenestration Rating Council — an authoritative, industry-specific body that comprehensively compares energy-efficient windows. They provide standardized ratings in key energy performance categories. Here’s how the features in our windows address these metrics and keep your home operating efficiently.

U-Factor & Gas Fills

U-factor determines the rate at which heat escapes through a window. The lower the U-factor number is, the better the window is at mitigating heat loss.

Gas Fills: To aid in the creation of an insulated glass unit (IGU), Manufacturers fill the space between the glass units with krypton, argon or xenon gas. These heavier, noble gases are preferable to filling the unit with air because they can better impede the transfer of heat through a window.

Most IGUs on the market are separated by ½ – ¾ of an inch. Due to our innovative approach to window hardware design, we are able to extend that space to a full inch. This means we can fill our IGUs with 25%-50% more gas. More gas leads to more effective insulation.

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) & Low-Emissivity (Low-E) Coating

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) represents how much solar radiation a window lets into the home. In other words, it determines how well a window can resist unwanted heat gain. The lower the SHGC number, the better the window unit is at reflecting and repelling heat.

Low Emissivity (Low-E) Coating: In order to improve SHGC, energy-efficient windows come equipped with Low-E (Low Emissivity) coating. This transparent, incredibly thin coating helps the window reflect the radiant heat emitted by objects inside the home (such as an HVAC unit) back into the home. This helps reduce heat loss during the colder months. It also helps the window reflect unwanted solar heat, allowing homes to cool more efficiently in warmer temperatures.

Because of our expertise and tailored approach, we are able to customize Low-E coatings to ensure that homeowners get the performance they need.

Air Leakage & Warm Edge Spacers

Air leakage infiltration measures the amount of airflow into the building via the window and exfiltration is the flow of air out of the building.

Warm Edge Spacers: These insulate the edges of the window unit and keep the glass panes firmly apart from each other. This airtight seal protects against Air Leakage and condensation forming inside the panes and heat loss to help a window unit stay energy-efficient over the long term. These spacers add structural stability and mitigate the stress that comes with thermal expansion and contraction in different weather conditions.

3. Additional Performance-Enhancing Features

These innovations are meant to take window performance and functionality to the next level.

The Parallex® Hardware System: Making Crank Windows Obsolete

While crank mechanisms have been a staple of North American window design for some time, they can strip, break and loosen as they get older. They also face seasonal-specific issues such as frozen gears and hinges as well as rust. Plus, because crank mechanisms open and close the window only from the bottom, this presents two potential problems:

  1. The thin arm of the crank system has to hold the weight of the entire window sash.
  2. The top of the sash and the bottom do not move in tandem. Over time, the force of gravity causes the sash to warp, sag and bow within the frame.

To get around these design flaws, we developed Parallex® hardware — a system that eliminates the crank, easing operation and improving the durability, performance, and functionality of your casement windows. This technology forces the top and bottom of the sash to move in complete tandem. This equal distribution of torque and movement is what allows our casement windows to operate without any risk of warping, sagging or distortion.

Fully Retractable Window Screens and Blinds

Homeowners should be able to choose exactly when they make use of their window screens. Our patented Retractable Slide ‘N’ Hide® Insect Screen comes standard in all of our replacement window, patio door, and Window Wall installations.

For added performance, homeowners can also opt to add Solar Screens and Thermal Blinds which also utilize Slide ‘N’ Hide® technology. This feature gives homeowners an unprecedented amount of control over things like insects, dust, natural light, and heat. It allows our blinds and screens to seamlessly retract inside the frame and remain fully out of view when not in use.
