1. First, understand the scope of the job with an in-home or virtual consultation.

No matter whether you’re looking to replace two windows, five windows or all your windows, every project should begin with a professional consultation. This is the case regardless of the reason behind the replacement.

Proper education and planning is an essential starting point for your window replacement project. That’s why Magic offers free, no-hassle, in-home consultations to help you better understand every angle of your project. If you would feel more comfortable with less physical contact, we are happy to offer free video consultations as well.

2. Understand and select the window styles that will work best for your home.

From casements and sliders to patio doors and window walls, replacement windows come in all shapes and sizes. Once you’ve worked out which windows you would like to replace, it’s time to select the styles you would like going forward.

Casement Windows

Traditionally, casement windows open and shut by means of a crank located at the bottom of the frame. They are attached to the frame by one or more hinges and can have upwards of five to six sashes/panels.

While it’s become a staple of North American casement window design, the crank is seriously outdated and flawed. Over time, crank mechanisms will strip, break and loosen. This causes window units to warp, sag and bow within their frames.

Our award-winning Parallex® hardware system eliminates the crank, eases operation and improves the window’s durability, performance and functionality. Without the need for cranks or hinges of any kind, mechanical failures are a non-factor with our casement windows. Parallex® technology also improves energy efficiency through tighter seals and creates a wider opening for better views, improved ventilation and a very accessible emergency escape route.

Sliding Windows

Available in single-sash, double-sash, or triple-sash configurations, sliding windows open by sliding the sash horizontally along the window’s sill. Easy to operate and cost-effective, these windows are very popular.

Hung Windows

Also available in single-sash and double-sash configurations, hung windows open by sliding the sash vertically along the jambs (the two vertical sides of the frame).

Patio Doors

Patio doors need to be functional, secure and stylistic. Available in one-, two-, three- and four-panel designs, our premium patio doors can suit a variety of home configurations. They also use an innovative hardware system consisting of eight stainless steel wheels that glide along an elevated stainless-steel track. This allows the door to maintain an incredibly smooth gliding motion even when food, dust, or other debris accumulate at the bottom of the track.

Window Walls

Looking for more natural light, cleaner lines and incredible functionality? Look no further. Capable of covering walls up to 50ft in length, the Window Wall is constructed of glass panels that operate independently from one another. This allows homeowners to customize the wall opening to whatever size they please. The configuration can range from a full wall of glass when the unit is completely closed, to a small entry door when just one panel is open, to a fully open wall that provides unobstructed views and access to a yard, deck or patio.

3. Enquire about features that will help you get the most out of your new windows.

The ultimate goal of any window replacement should be to invest in products that will perform at a high-level year in year out. So before you commit to the project, inquire about performance-enhancing features. They will bolster the durability, security and energy-efficiency of your window units.

Here are just some of the features that we offer to help you get the most out of your new windows:

Hybrid Fusion Frames: don’t settle for cheap, hollow vinyl frames.

Because we began as a manufacturer of aluminum windows, we have an appreciation for the structural advantages of these frames. But aluminum is regarded as one of the worst-performing frame materials when it comes to energy efficiency — its high thermal conductivity translates to poor insulating properties.

Conversely, many window companies tout the energy-efficiency of vinyl PVC frames. The only issue there is that vinyl PVC is a cheap material that expands and contracts in climates where temperatures fluctuate drastically over the course of the year. What’s more, it’s a disposable material that is prone to wear, tear and outright damage.

Our solution was to combine the superior strength and durability of aluminum and galvanized steel, with the energy-efficiency and welded corners of vinyl frames. In doing so, we opted for more strength, more durability and security as well as more energy efficiency. The result was our Hybrid Fusion Frame technology available on all of our windows, patio doors and Window Walls.

Custom Glass Formulation

Most window manufacturers purchase their IGUs (Insulated Glass Units) directly from suppliers. Magic is unique in the sense that we do not purchase our IGUs. From glass types and glazings to gas fills and coatings, we formulate our own glass packages and customize them to suit your specific preferences, the climate in which you live and your home’s construction.

Retractable Screens and Blinds

Retractable Insect Screens: Fixed insect screens can block up to 50% of the natural light and accumulate dirt, dust and other allergens over time. In contrast, fully retractable screens give you complete control over when, where and to what extent your screens are in use.

Retractable Sun Screens: These translucent screens can lead to more comfortable interior conditions. They’ll block the brunt of the sun’s heat during warmer months, and allow you to capitalize on more of the sun’s heat during the winter. They also eliminate glare and reduce UV penetration. These screens are optional add-ons to all of our window styles.

Retractable Blackout Blinds: Retractable blackout thermal blinds bring light penetration down to zero for times when you want complete blackout conditions and/or privacy. When they’re engaged, these optional blind systems can also double the insulating value of your windows.

Security

Our fully secure multi-point locking system holds the window in place in two or more places simultaneously. Magic fashions both our cam and multipoint locking systems from stainless steel to ensure security and peace of mind. Our products, such as our Window Wall, have a grade-40 security rating, which is the highest attainable security rating for a product in its class

4. Seal the deal with high-end installation and a transparent warranty.

All of our experienced installers and technicians are trained, certified and equipped to handle any and every job that comes their way. We install all year round: summer or winter, cold or hot, mild or humid.

Our installers take every necessary precaution to ensure that we leave your home as clean as when we got there. We also monitor our production so that we can give you a realistic time for completion and so that you can plan accordingly.
